Mastra Factory is a comprehensive open-source platform for building and deploying AI agents in TypeScript. Developed by Mastra, it provides a robust framework combining memory, tools, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and observability to accelerate the transition from prototype to production. Officially launched in October 2024, it features a flexible architecture that supports self-hosting or managed cloud deployment (Mastra Cloud).

Architecture and Technical Features

The platform relies on an asynchronous execution engine that supports multi-step reasoning, tool calling, and structured output. Its Workflow Engine enables deterministic, graph-based orchestration of AI steps, ensuring repeatability and control. The platform also includes built-in RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) support with document chunking, embeddings, and vector store integrations.

Memory and Conversation Persistence

Mastra Factory offers an advanced memory layer that maintains agent state across sessions, allowing agents to remember previous context and make decisions based on conversation history. This makes it suitable for customer service applications, smart assistants, and interactive agents.

Observability and Evaluation

The platform includes built-in observability tools to track events, CPU time, and data retention. It also provides evaluation (Evals) mechanisms to measure and improve agent performance. Projects can be deployed with a single command to Mastra Cloud or serverless platforms.
